We live in the digital information age. Increasingly, we spend more time online or organizing our lives and information about who we are online. We create digital avatars of ourselves as a result of being in the internet age, ‘The performance of the self continues on the net…

Robert Kananaj Gallery is honoured to present the first solo exhibition of Gon Bregu’s work in Canada. The exhibition is a survey of paintings; also are introduced some elements of sculpture.

The exhibition is a little shocking, a little prescient, a little sexy, a little snotty, a little surly, but smart, with a couple of jokes . . . and Elizabeth Taylor.

According to Renaldo Arenas, the Furies were the only goddesses that should inspire us. This exhibition is, from my perspective, a pared down retrospective of works from the past decade or so, with a nod to the distant past and a nervous glance toward what may likely occur.

Variants, a series of related sculptures, feature acrylic prisms that contain mud harvested from Lake Ontario along with nutrients that encourage microbial growth – cellulose, sulphur, and calcium carbonate.
