Robert Kananaj Gallery is honoured to present the first solo exhibition of Gon Bregu's work in Canada.
The exhibition is a survey of paintings; also are introduced some elements of sculpture. The whole show is like a self-portrait, with eclectic elements.
The artist sheds light on intent by direct reference to a shed serpent's skin.
The snake (Serpent) is associated with both negative and positive, or duality, in the story of Adam and Eve. Another motif is rebirth or renewal. This creature has the ability to shed its old skin when it grows a new one. Metaphorically, the casting off of this skin, represents the release of old ways of thinking. The fresh new skin found underneath is rebirth and new beginnings…purification, like winding meandering river at course.  
Present at centre stage are the artist’s at-work objects, such as clothes, a pair of shoes, pants, shirt, eyeglasses, a cigarette rolling machine, and a hand-made sketch book. These cast-off belongings give a direction to the show. Low-key subjects are rendered fluently, making Gon’s vulnerably rooted self open to the sublime. Certainty becomes a tested act in painting.

Gon's work has been acquired by the National Art Gallery of Albania. Garnering attention from  art lovers since his debut, Gon lives and works in Athens, Greece.
